Buying Direct
from Yurt Workshop
We have been making yurts for customers all over Europe for more than twenty years.
We are based in Europe ourselves, in the province of Granada in southern Spain, and making yurts for customers across Europe has always been a large part of what we do.
We are still a small workshop and we still make the yurts ourselves. We care enormously about what we make: the proportions, the materials, the way everything fits together and, ultimately, how the yurt feels when you walk inside it.
We make Canvas Yurts, Insulated Yurts and Glass Wall Yurts. Most people looking for a yurt for regular or year-round use choose an insulated yurt, and from there we can work with doors, windows, glass and other options to make the yurt suit the way you want to use it.
If you are thinking about buying a yurt in Europe, you deal directly with us as the people making it. I can help you work out the size and specification, put together a clear estimate and arrange delivery when your yurt is ready.
What Sort of Yurt?
For most people planning to use their yurt regularly or throughout the year, an Insulated Yurt is the natural starting point.
We use 100% natural sheep's wool felt insulation, with a bright inner liner and our double-canvas roof system. It gives the yurt warmth and substance, while keeping all the things that make a yurt such a wonderful space in the first place.
If you are looking for something mainly for seasonal use, a guest room, studio or retreat space, a Canvas Yurt may be all you need.
Then there is glass.
A full-glass door, opening windows or a wider Glass Wall can completely change the feeling of the space. More light comes in, the view opens up and the landscape becomes much more present inside the yurt.
There is no standard combination. We can keep things very simple or work with you on something much more individual.
What Size Yurt?
We make yurts from 10 to 25 feet in diameter.
The right size depends much more on what you want to do inside the yurt than on the number itself. A 14 foot yurt can make a lovely bedroom or studio. An 18 or 20 foot yurt gives you a very different kind of space, and once you get into the larger sizes they can feel remarkably generous inside.
If you already know roughly what size you want, that is easy enough. If not, tell me what the yurt is for, how many people will normally use it and what needs to go inside.
This is one of those things that is much easier to work out in conversation than it is by staring at a list of diameters.
We have been making yurts in all these sizes for years, so I can usually help you narrow it down quite quickly.
What Will It Cost?
The price starts with the size of the yurt.
From there, it depends on what you want to make of it. Insulation, doors, windows, a Glass Wall, higher walls and other choices can all be added as we work out the yurt together.
You can see the prices for each size on the website, which gives you a good place to start.
Then, if you tell me what you have in mind, I can put together an estimate for the yurt you are actually thinking about.
Because we make the yurts ourselves, we are not trying to fit you into a package. We can work out what matters to you, what doesn't, and make the yurt accordingly.
Getting It to You
We arrange delivery throughout Europe, including Portugal, Spain, France, Germany, Italy and the Netherlands, or you are very welcome to collect your yurt from our workshop.
The delivery cost depends on the size of the yurt and where it is going, so once I have your location I can include it in the estimate.
Putting It Up
When the yurt arrives, you put it up yourself with a few willing pairs of hands.
We provide a written guide, a series of installation videos and phone support if you need me while you are doing it.
Most people putting one up for the first time take around three hours.
When Can I Get One?
Most of our yurts are made to order, and the workshop schedule changes through the year.
Sometimes we also have a yurt already made, or one part way through the workshop, which means it can be available sooner.
If timing matters, tell me when you get in touch and I can let you know what is possible.
You can also see anything currently available on the website.
