Yurt Crown Decoration
The art of the yurt crown and traditional design
Yurt art as found on some of our amazing crowns is a specialism unique to our workshop. From time to time we are asked to paint and decorate the central crown of our yurts. We have done this for many people over the years. For some examples - Painted Crown Gallery Prices vary depending on the design selected and the size of the crown which varies from 60cm to 160cm and can range from £175 - £500 and more.
We are very lucky to have the services of a time served sign writer, wagon painter, and all-around artist.
Each crown is beautifully prepared and painted over a 10 day period.
This traditionally painted crown is first given two coats of the base red, a traditional Mongol colour, in a matte finish.
 Next Andrew stencil the design. This particular design is derived from a sourcebook of 100s of original Mongol designs that came directly from Mongolia. It is popular with our customers.
 Andrew applies the colour and builds up the pattern bit by bit until each colour has had three coats.
The result of all these hours of work is a beautiful piece of artwork.
