Question: How transportable is my Yurt?
Answer: The small yurts can be carried in the smallest of cars with ease. Walls and poles will fit in an estate car or on the roof of a smaller car. In other words with a car they are very easy to transport.
Using Your Yurt as a Permanent DwellingA yurt can be lived in all year round. With a heater or log burner the yurt is very warm in winter. A felted yurt makes a great home.
Can I leave my Yurt Up All Year RoundIf you plan to occupy your ger then you can leave it up all year round. If you don’t plan to live in it all year round and if you plan to leave it up all winter then you need to make sure it doesn’t get damp. Visit the ger regularly and put the stove on to heat it through.
Note: If left up unoccupied in a wet climate during the winter the chances are it will gradually get damp and if it has no chance to dry out this could result in mould forming on the frame and canvas. The solution to this is to take it down in the winter or use it regularly so it is dried out.
Yurts need using to ensure they stay in good condition.
