Quality Materials
yurt materials specially selected for utility and quality
To make the best quality yurts we require the best materials. Over the years we have established excellent relationships with our suppliers and have some of our materials specially made for us.
Wood

Our frames are normally made from renewable chestnut - the wood we consider to be the best choice for the job. We source this wood in Northern Spain, from mountain forest farms where the trees have been grown for hundreds of years.

The best material for our solid crowns is oak; with ultra-high resistance to the elements, it provides a secure foundation for a long last yurt frame.
Canvas

One of the most important aspects of a yurt is the canvas cover - this is what keeps the yurt dry and allows moisture out (breathing). We have our canvas specially made to order. We have the canvas proofed to a very high standard to ensure the canvas will not leak whatever the climate. We go the extra mile with proofing so you can relax knowing you have the best-proofed canvas available.
We use 400g/m2 cotton/polyester especially proofed to our exacting standards.
- Breathable
- Very strong but light and quick drying
- Fire and rot resistant
- Water-resistant to 600mm head
Felt Insulation

The best way to insulate your yurt is with pure new wool felt. We have ours specially produced in Austria and is the best felt for the job.
- 100% Pure New Wool
- 100% Natural
- Fire resistant (with Euro certificate)
- 10mm thick
- 900g/m2
- Highly Insulating
Lining
We line our insulated yurts with purpose made marquee liner. The colour is off-white or loomstate. The material is made of polyester fibres specially designed to be fire resistant without the use of additional chemical coatings.
Ironwork

We like our yurts to be very strong and therefore we have the metal parts made by the local blacksmith. The iron rings either side of the door, and for those who chose this option the door handle, hinges and flue supports are all made to measure by hand.
