Mongolian Ger

New Colours Announced

Aug 28, 2013
We had a fantastic year as ever.

We have sent yurts as far as the south pacific this year and demand for our yurts is coming from all over Europe and beyond.   This last two years we improved our chestnut frame finishing and we are getting more and more feedback about how incredibly beautiful these frames are, so thank you for all the emails.
We are working on some new designs for the coming year.  The first is the clear acrylic dome,  I hope the prootypes will be in full test over the winter and we can start selling these this coming year.
We have introduced two colours to  our range, Sand and Olive green - both colours are using the same poly-cotton canvas proofed to our high standards.

In Kyrgyzstan

I intend to recall and share more details of HOW I learned to make yurts and why we make them as we do.

Much of my influence comes from studying with other yurt makers. And one of the most influential of these was a Kyrgyz family based in a yurt making village near to lake Issyk Kul, close to the Tian Shan mountains, Kyrgyzstan.

Yurt Workshop Customer Comments

Richard Everiss, Yorkshire Planetarium:

The Ger itself is simply a thing of understated beauty...the care and attention which has been lavished on it during its construction is evident. Rather like finding a smooth pebble on a beach, so Robert and his wife Ratna have handcrafted a building that is wonderful to touch and feels naturally balanced.
