An exciting 2 week trip down the Silk Road, working alongside master yurt makers you will learn this ancient art and discover the way to make a traditional yurt using the same techniques that have been used for centuries.
Our location will be close by the Issy-kul lake a mysterious and enigmatic natural lake, bordered by to one of the most beautiful mountain ranges in Asia, the Tien Shien.
This adventure into Kyrgyzstan and the art of yurt making is designed for people who want to acquire yurt making skills or simply want to witness the unspoilt beauty of a region still existing in a similar fashion to many 100's of years ago.
In addition, to acquiring these new skills we will spend some time visiting important sites of interest in the region and educating ourselves about the people and culture who gave us the Kyrgyz yurt.
Kyrgyzstan is filled with fascinating and beautiful artefacts, places and people. We will drink deeply from the cup of Kyrgyz culture and get to know these very special people as we work and live alongside them.
We will spend some time in the Tien Shen Mountains staying in a yurt in the traditional manner. We will ride by horseback* and sample the like of the Kyrgyz yurt dwellers.
