Nearly all the yurts we make these days are bespoke, that is you design them to match your needs and that means doors, windows, joins, stoves, floors...
Yurt Doors
In the same way that we make very strong and clever door frames we make beautiful doors to match. We make a variety of different doors including traditional Mongolian doors, solid wood doors, rustic doors, stable doors, French doors, doors with windows and doors without.

A yurt door is unlike a house door, yurts generate stresses in the opposite direction to those on a conventional door frame, and this needs to be understood and to to be designed properly. After studying the yurts and the craftsman from Mongolia and Central Asia we implement their understanding and craftsmanship into our doors and door frames. We use traditional mortice and tenon joints, secured with the traditional wooden pegs, and in addition, for added protection we use boat makers glue to make sure the joints are sealed and they give many years of trouble free life. So, no matter what design you choose you can be reassured the door will work perfectly in your yurt.

We generally use pine wood for our doors but we also offer oak* for those who want something a bit special. Both types of wood work very well however oak will become even more beautiful with age.
*oak is not always available as we like to season the wood prior to use.

Our doors come with a security lock, and hand made hinges, hand made door handles, scratch plates and shutter catches.
When it comes to doors we love to make them how you like them and we look forward to hearing from you. If you need some inspiration then check out our
Door & Window photo gallery to help you in your selection.
Yurt Windows
For the last three years nearly every yurt we have made has had a window, some three windows and one even had four. We have been windows for years and we apply the same design considerations as we do with our doors.
In general we make them with solid wood frames, now double glazed as standard and integrated into the wall of your yurt. They come in different sizes to match your needs. We can make shutters and fly screens for them too.
We can make vinyl windows for those that want them but we recommend wooden framed windows.
Outer
Covers
Outer
covers are becoming more and more popular with our customers. We make
ours from polyester that is made of a special fibre that is fireproof
and is certified as such, this is an essential quality considering
most yurt owners heat their yurts with a wood burning stove. The
covers are washable, tough and will protect your yurt canvas form UV
light thus extending its life. In addition we can decorate them in
the traditional patterns of Mongolia for added beauty.
Decorated Crowns

We make our crowns from oak for the solid Mongol crowns and ash for the bentwood crowns. Oak is the most beautiful wood we know and we love to see the grain and texture of the wood in our crowns. However, a few years ago, we were asked to decorate a crown and we selected a local artist to do so fro us. Through our research in Asia we have access to hundreds of the traditional design patterns of Mongolia and used these in designing the decoration for our crowns.

Alternatively many of our customers use their yurts as part of their varied business activities. We have been commissioned to design crowns for a planetarium, a therapy room, a yoga room, chill out space and others. Our customers gives us a brief and we develop the a design and decoration to match their needs.
Woven Tension Band

We offer a unqiue and special addition to the interior of your yurt. Our woven tension band is made from a beautiful patterned band made locally in Andalucia. It is proving more and more popular and brightens up the interior no end.
Yurt Join
We have joined yurts to make complexes for our customers. The key to successful yurt joining is understanding how the wind can get trapped and how to keep the rain out. We developed and tested a solution three years ago and have sold half a dozen since then and they have been very successful. More details can be found here

A fitted aluminium plate with silicon insert fitted into your canvas or crown means you can put your stove where you want it. We can advise on positioning for optimal and safe use.
Bagana
Bagana (traditional decorative upright posts used to support the crown). Bagana are used in traditional Mongolian Gers and in a Yurt Workshop Ger they give an authentic Mongolian look. In addition they provide extra stability in high winds and heavy snow.
